Ohio Valley CMG and Central Ohio Mainframe Users Group are teaming up to deliver you a full day of great mainframe performance content on April 23rd, 2013.  If you’re a CMG member who is not a mainframe professional, stay tuned: we’re planning a fall conference of non-mainframe content.

As part of this joint venture with COMUG, we’re trying several different thing with this meeting that will make it a bit different from previous meetings.  In an effort to increase the value to you, our members, we’re reducing our costs by moving out of Dave and Busters.  The primary meeting location will be the IBM campus in Dublin Ohio, with the satellite location being Progressive Insurance in Mayfield Village Ohio.  This, combined with IBM and Enterprise Performance Strategies sponsoring breakfast and lunch, have allowed us to reduce our registration cost to $0.  Yes, that is a zero.  The hassle of filling out an expense report is no longer a valid excuse for not attending!  Moreover, we’re also making the live webcast of the event freely available as well.  We hope you’ll join us in one of our two locations in order to get the benefit of networking with your peers, but we understand if you just can’t make it out of the office.

No matter how you attend, you will get to hear some great presentations by some great speakers.  Steve Guendert is going to start out the day educating us on the performance improvements possible with zHPF.  Steve Womer is going to follow that with a discussion on the value of good response time and why a well-thought out architecture is key to the achieving that.  Peter Enrico is going to then discuss how WLM management of CICS can help you achieve those good response times.  During lunch he will give us a look at his product Pivotor which can be used to analyze performance data.  Monte Bauman will follow that up with an update on the IBM zEC12 mainframes.  Scott Chapman will discuss the CPU Measurement Facility (SMF 113) data and present an SMF 113 analysis of one shop’s migration from a z10 to a zEC12.  Finally, the day will end with Allan Balian leading a round-table COMUG-style discussion about customers’ zEC12 experiences.

0800 - Arrival and continential breakfast (provided by IBM)
0830 - Opening remarks
0845 - Exploring zHPF Performance (Steve Guendert)
1000 - The Value of Good Response Time (Steve Womer)
